Indian FTR 1200S Bike Rally and R Carbon
Since its introduction in 2019 Indians, FTR 1200 has been straddling the line between dirt tracker and roadster the tall suspension styling Dunlop tires and 19 by 18 wheels call back to the brand’s flag track success but didn’t quite suit the road it made the FTR feel heavier longer and slower to turn than its naked bike rivals well it’s safe to say that Indian received the feedback as the American firm revises the FTR family for the new year ( Indian FTR 1200S Bike Rally and R Carbon )
When the original FTR 1200 was released back in 2019 Indians showed that the American v twin does not have to be confined to the cruiser class the upgrades to this platform for 2022 are by no means radical but the features further refine this revolutionary machine the 1203 cc liquid called v-twin engine remains the heart and soul of this wild stallion but some key modifications to the fueling system have been addressed as stated by Indian all-new FTR models feature a retuned engine calibration that refines cold start performance and delivers a smoother more predictable throttle response previously all FTR’s except the rally came with proprietary Dunlop tires an 18-inch rear and the 19-inch front tire was designed with a tread pattern mimicking the race-only dt3s used on the FTR-750s now the FTR s and r carbon are each fitted with cast aluminum17-inch wheels and mid seller sport EC tires in order to deliver more nimble and precise handling the rally will continue to equip Pirelli scorpion rally SDRs in original 18 by 19 sizes the FDRs and r carbon models are equipped with fully adjustable suspension major upgrade to the base model despite the price decrease as in the previous years the top of the liner carbon comes with fully adjustable all in suspension we now see a lowered seat height on the Fdrs and r carbon models moving from 33.4 inches to 32 inches likely thanks to the new suspension tune which drops 1.2 inches of travel from the previous 5.9 inches to 4.7 inches on each model the aim of the shortest stance is to make the machine more approachable to a wider range of riders.
DISPLAY & FEATURES
The rally however sees no suspension upgrades and is now the only model with non-adjustable suspension a new development has become commonplace in cars and trucks these days has found its way into the 2022 FTR line as a means of conserving fuel and coping with more stringent environmental regulations the FTR line will deactivate the rare cylinder when at idle as an added bonus this will cut down on the heat transfer under the seat making for a more comfortable ride in stop-and-go city traffic now this is something Indian already had in its bigger capacity cruiser and touring bikes and now it comes down to the FTR with four distinct models in the FTR line Indian has applied some unique features to each one the FDRS and r carbon are both equipped with a 4.3 inch ride command touchscreen display which offers configurable gauges Bluetooth and USB connectivity wheelie control stability control traction control and cornering abs are exclusive to the s and r carbon models the r carbon will also come with a black Akrapovic exhaust as standard
the base FTR retails for 12,999 dollars while the s model will go for 49.99 the premium carbon trim comes in at 16,999 and the rally slots in quite nicely at 39.99 given the four different models in the FTR line Indian is banging on the street-oriented standard attracting interested buyers starting in the spring of so those are the main features of the new Indian FDR let me know in the comments down below your thoughts on the new FTR and do you think Indian have done the right thing by making the FTR more street-friendly where it most likely would be spending most of its time anyway if you liked this article then smash that like button and if you’d like to catch more motorcycle news and content like this consider subscribing to the WEBSITE and I’ll catch you in the next one.
