The Hyundai i20 Turbo Petrol is the most features loaded car in the segment as of now. The car also gets an amazing engine too. But now, Tata is bringing the new Turbo Petrol variant of the Altroz which packs more powerful engine and new added features. So read the article to know more about Tata Altroz iTurbo VS Hyundai i20 Turbo Petrol.
Powering the new Tata Altroz iTurbo is the new 1.2-Litre 3-Cylinder, Turbo Petrol engine which churns out around 110 ps of max power @5,500 rpm and 140 Nm of torque between 1,500 to 5,500 rpm. This engine will be mated to a 5-speed manual transmission. The car is yet to get launched, so stay tuned to get more information about the car when it launches.
On the other hand the new Hyundai i20 Turbo Petrol is powered by a 998 cc, Inline-3 Cylinder, DOHC Turbo Petrol engine which puts out 120 ps of power @6000 rpm and 172 Nm of torque @1500 rpm. But the main problem with this car is, its not available with fully manual transmission. So this car is available in iMT (Intelligent Manual Transmission) which doesn’t give full control of a manual car. Another variant is the 7-speed DCT (Dual Clutch Transmission). If you want a i20 Turbo Petrol, avoid going with iMT and get the DCT because the iMT is slower than the DCT variant.
Features wise, the i20 has an edge over the Altroz. Hyundai i20 Turbo Petrol gets much more features compared to the Altroz iTurbo. You can read this article to know everything about the new Hyundai i20. In this comparison(features wise), the Altroz remains slightly back but the new Hyundai i20 is a overpriced product whereas we expect the new Altroz iTurbo to be priced very aggressively. So you decide whether you want a well built 5-star rated safe car or a feature loaded car.
DRIVING DYNAMICS AND COMFORT:
The new Hyundai i20 Turbo Petrol with that much of power, doesn’t feel that powerful when we compare it to the real world experience and spec sheet. The Altroz definitely feels good in terms of handling but we have to wait till the car launches to feel the power. The ride and handling balance of the i20 is above average. But the comfort of that car is amazing. The car is wider so it gives more room for passengers to sit. The suspension of the new i20 is softly sprung.
PRICE AND COLORS:
As we told already, the new i20 is priced higher than we expected. The car starts from 8.26 lakhs and goes all the way upto 14.06 lakhs! So it ends up competing with some crossovers and compact SUVs. But the BS6 Tata Altroz is already a value for money product. And we expect the same from the new Altroz iTurbo.
The new Hyundai i20 looks stunning in these new 7 colors which includes Polar White, Typhoon Blue, Titan Grey, Fiery Red, Starry Night, Metallic Copper, Polar White with Black Roof and Fiery Red with Black Roof.
